I'm a Computer Science student from Germany, currently in my second semester, and have a strong interest in PCs. I believe I can understand what is being discussed. Please forgive if this seems too simple or if I haven't encountered it before online. My current PC is approximately two and a half years old. Until now, I've experienced no issues. My specifications are: CPU - Intel i9-9900k, Cooler - an AIO with one fan, GPU - 2080ti, Motherboard - MSI MPG z390 GAMING EDGE AC (MS-7B17), RAM - 48GB, Operating System - Windows 10 Pro Build 19041. Regarding the issue, yesterday I played some games and everything functioned normally. However, my PC began to lag and stutter, eventually crashing. At the time, I didn't recall what triggered it, but a message appeared on the screen. I attempted a BIOS update to resolve it, but it seemed unrelated to the BIOS and likely caused the CPU to throttle. When I restarted the PC, the BIOS reported a temperature of just 40°C, but it quickly rose to 100°C. I checked the CPU temperature directly, and the fans were working properly. Now, I can still use my PC, but the CPU is throttling itself to only 0.5 GHz, which is very slow. I'm currently running an antivirus scan, though I suspect it won't help due to the slowed CPU.
the air should be warm. The job of the CPU cooler is to move heat off of the CPU. @Skiiwee29 said the pump of the cooler is possibly dead, and you can test this by touching the tubes to see if they are warm or not. Warm water should be moving to the radiator. also, you have to quote us, or we won't see your responses.
It functioned well over the past two years but stopped working yesterday.
