I frequently engage in games that require strong driving skills using a controller.

You're facing a common choice: mouse and keyboard for control, but needing a controller for smoother play. You're planning to start with M+KB and switch to a controller once it's available.

Purchase a 360 controller with a wireless adapter for just $15 if you opt for the wireless version. It will significantly reduce the cost.

Considering a gamepad similar to the Logitech G13 for titles such as GTA and Skyrim. It includes a mini thumb joystick for movement and might let you adjust in-game acceleration, while keeping the mouse handy for aiming.

I rely on a controller for it. Among the few games, one stands out as especially fun when played with a controller.

When playing third person games, I usually grab a controller unless the game relies heavily on shortcuts. Otherwise, I prefer kb+m. Grand Theft Auto appears designed for third person, and the first person mode in GTA 5 doesn’t appeal to me.

I enjoy open world games such as GTA just as I did with Halo and Halo 2, using a controller held in lap for driving control.
