GTX 670 and i5 2500k were not yet overclocked, so I had to lower the settings to medium. At maximum it was completely unplayable. At medium it performed perfectly with no issues. The game resolution was 1920x1080p.

The age of a card and the reliability of the driverbase improve performance with early game titles. Even older systems like my GTX 470 handled 770s and 780s well in the initial Star Citizen launch. Nowadays, many games have surpassed those capabilities. This pattern appears across numerous MMO releases. It's a normal occurrence, not unusual at all.
