I’m relocating to a new home next month, and I had the chance to tour it today. I noticed there are ports or outlets in each room—I’m not sure what they are or how they work.

looks like LAN, you can probably lift up the little flap you see now and underneath should be RJ45

Sorry for the delay. I just got back to the house. Regarding your follow-up, you can connect it directly to your computer without a router if it supports plug-and-play. Otherwise, ensure it’s on the same network.

Hey me again do i already moved in to the house and the wifi is absolutely horibble then i realize the i was wondering if this network switch is good because i found out none of the port is ocnnected

Hey, I understand your concern. After installing the switch, you can connect your PC directly to the router without needing an additional router unless you have specific setup needs.

One of the router's LAN ports just needs to connect to the switch, either straight or through a wall plate.
