You're considering upgrading from DDR3 to DDR4. It sounds like you're dealing with a hardware change and might need a different type of memory module. You may want to check your motherboard's specifications to see if it supports DDR4 and what capacity it offers.

You'll require a fresh motherboard and CPU for transitioning from DDR3 to DDR4. Do you have a budget in mind? What are your existing system details?

Not very confident about the budget—probably under 200. I own an Intel i7-4790 and an AMD Radeon RX 580, but I’m unsure about my PSU and motherboard. I’m considering a pre-built setup.

It could become challenging if the PSU and motherboard rely on unique connections that don’t match standard ATX boards. Some pre-built models fit this situation, particularly from earlier times when the 4790 was common. Would you like me to take a photo of the PC without the side panel?

The RAM must match your CPU and board specifications. Your setup requires DDR3 or DDR4, which means you’d need to replace the CPU and board. This is impractical since it’s outdated and most current CPUs use DDR5. Upgrading isn’t feasible right now.

It seems like you're confirming the setup is correct. A price of 200 USD might be tough unless you check the used market for better deals, especially since you'll need new RAM, CPU, and a motherboard.

You require the upgrade to DDR4 because it offers better performance and efficiency compared to previous generations, ensuring your system runs smoother and more effectively.

It seems like you're unsure about your budget. You mentioned not wanting anything over 400, but it might be worth clarifying the details.

I believed it would offer more RAM, which is exactly what I'm after.
