Which operating systems should I install in VirtualBox? For standard x86 Windows or Linux, using a laptop with an x86 processor (Intel or AMD) is usually preferable unless you specifically need macOS and want VirtualBox to simplify your setup. Remember, the "Max" chip offers more GPUs, but unless you're working with graphics-intensive tasks, the extra power may not be utilized effectively.

You're looking for alternatives to Virtual Box in Zorin OS. Since its graphics performance is limited, you might want to explore other options that offer better visual support for the GUI.

UTM performance seems even worse because it relies on QEMU virtual GPUs. Zorin OS likely runs Debian/Ubuntu with a different interface. If GUI responsiveness isn’t ideal, sticking to Debian would make more sense. If you prefer Linux in general, choosing a macOS instead might be better.

macOS is based on Unix. If you need tasks that aren't available in macOS via homebrew, Zorin might offer alternatives.
