Mate brought it to the shop where the team tried it out with 1.5v and 0.8v settings on the chipset, but they found it was supposed to be 12v—definitely a problem. The repair crew collected everything we had mishandled, so we can be sure they’re not cheating us. Either way, disconnect the damaged battery—it’s a simple fix! Today’s lesson: LOL

You exceeded expectations beyond what was mentioned. Could you explore techniques first before proceeding?

I received a request at 12 volts for the chipset. It's good you're owning up to it. Such situations are why I no longer handle tech support for others.

I wasn't just listening to what the shopkeeper said. I'm not sure I'll ever understand it. Still, it's important to get your say if you're honest about never diving and causing trouble.

I mainly had to accept responsibility and purchase a new device because somehow, interacting with their outdated hardware was the breaking point. This, combined with the fact that it used to function but now doesn’t, makes you the last person who touched it (months ago), so it’s your fault. Friends and family often try to shift blame onto you because they feel entitled to something or another, especially since you’re considered their friend or family member. Fck 'em.

It seems a brief circuit caused a significant issue with the buck converter, as they work well for reducing voltage but can fail in ways that disrupt everything connected afterward.

Just a quick reminder: were you certain the laptop was functioning before you started working on it? It’s possible your friend gave you a faulty one to get you to replace it himself. When I fix things, I do it at no cost, but I won’t be held accountable if it doesn’t work out. If they prefer a professional, they should cover the fees.
