Hello, I’m not really comfortable with a hot CPU, especially with my Ryzen 5 3600x getting warm. I’m using a Be quiet Dark Rock 3 paired with Arctic MX-4 thermal paste on an MSI gaming edge X570 board. At idle temperatures, my temps sit between 50 and 55°C according to Ryzen Master. The cooler is rated for 190 TDP, but I think it shouldn’t reach 55°C at idle since the fan isn’t spinning fast enough—maybe because the airflow comes from above the GPU and doesn’t help much. My graphics card is a Gigabyte 3 fans GTX 1070, which stays in stop fan mode even when idle. I’m only using the Dark Rock cooler, and I’m in a NZXT H510 case. Perhaps I just assume these temps are normal for this setup. Please let me know if this is typical. Thanks!

Idle periods don't count unless full load readings are acceptable. Poor airflow in the case also won't make a difference. Perform a stress test to verify those temperatures stay within limits. For precise monitoring, use Ryzen Master or HWiNFO64—they offer the best accuracy for Ryzen processors.

I completed a CineBench R20 test with a 4GHz constant speed. The CPU reached 4GHz at 85°C, but it didn’t hit 4.4GHz likely due to heat. The case and CPU fans were also active.

During Cinebench testing, the CPU fan reached 90% speed at 1900 RPM. Removing the glass side panel lowered the temperature to around 80°C, and the fan slowed by about 5%. The boost clock remained at 4GHz, which isn't a significant improvement.

It's close to the ideal range for boosting performance, though it's not a thermal throttle situation. Replace the cooler, apply fresh thermal paste, and see if temperatures decrease.

The advertised boost speed applies only to a single core; the full-core boost will be reduced. Ensure adequate airflow around your case and that you’re using the most recent BIOS version.

I tightened the screws as much as possible, planning to test again later. It's possible the adapter I use is of poor quality, though that seems unlikely from Be Quiet's reputation for reliable products. I need to stick with the adapter since Dark Rock 3 wasn't available when it launched.
