What Intel is doing is similar to what AiB Partners has been doing in the GPU market for a long time—they’re offering a factory overclock. This chip is expected to be available only for about a month before the 10th generation arrives.

It has a high TDP of 95W, which is definitely something to consider. It's unclear why this would be a good sign given your experience with the 9900k unelss gaming and single-core workloads.

I'll be shocked if that holds true. Definitely not in a real world scenario. They should market it at around 125w as I suspect that it will need at least that.

I'm curious about whether boosting to 5 GHz with all cores will reduce the temperature. My 9900K gets quite warm after pushing it to 5 GHz all at once, and I wasn't sure if the trade-off between lifespan and speed was worth it. I ended up reverting it back to the standard settings.

I'm curious about whether boosting to 5 GHz with all cores will reduce the temperature. My 9900K gets quite warm after pushing it to 5 GHz all at once, and I wasn't sure if the trade-off between lifespan and speed was worth it. I ended up reverting it back to the standard settings.

It has been discovered that the specified TDP is 127W. However, TDP doesn't hold any significance.

It’s clearly just a 9900k chip. There’s no further complexity involved—it simply reflects what Intel could provide in 2019. I’d anticipate comparable performance to a regular 9900k because it’s essentially the same.

It's accurate but intended to suggest an estimate for the cooling system's output. The issue is that Intel performs this calculation based on the base clock speed. Double-checked, and it turns out my understanding was incorrect.

The power consumption rating matters, but its interpretation varies. Some might think TDP is irrelevant, while others see it as important. That’s another issue. Also, Zen 2 can exceed its TDP in certain configurations. Both my 3600 and 3700X have a 65W TDP rating, but they push toward an 88W PPT limit that’s readily achievable. The main distinction lies in whether Intel or AMD enforces limits by default—AMD does, the other doesn’t. Either way, both can surpass their TDP in stock builds.
