I learned that my performance improved significantly after upgrading to a more powerful processor, reaching nearly consistent 144 fps across all maps at 1440p resolution.

The 13th generation offers around 50% improvement in IPC, ensuring a smooth performance boost. Consider checking out the 13.7GHz or 13.6GHz options or using the 13.4GHz chip to save RAM usage.

Hey Sydney, unfortunately I didn’t hit the lottery. Even before my upgrade (my old card was a 2080Ti), I was stuck at 4,9 if my temps stayed below 95°C. So you’re wondering if a 13600/13700 is a better upgrade choice for pure gaming?

Completely overlooked that section. 7800x3d is preferable, but it depends on your budget. 7800x3d works if you’re willing to invest heavily—around 13600k—and using DDR4 offers a big boost at a lower cost. Streaming with a 13600k/700k setup is also a solid choice since you can configure the streaming on the e cores.

You can be CPU bottlenecked even if your utilization is low. Overall utilization especially is not necessarily representative of a CPU limitation. The operating system views the 9900k as a 16 core CPU, and if a game only really can use 4 cores (8 logical if it can even use hyperthreading) then you can be at 50% utilization and still be fully capped out. Some games aren't well multi-threaded, especially online games. At this point in time the single-threaded IPC of Skylake is pretty old. As far as 4.9ghz vs 5ghz...there's no real world difference in 100mhz. There's barely any difference between 4.7 and 5.0. Ultimately, you're looking at 8 year old IPC, which will sometimes struggle in modern games. My wife still uses a 9900k, and in a lot of the games she plays, which are mostly simulation games, there are times when the games start to chunk along and it's because of that low IPC.
