Hello, your order was placed on a custom PC website that suggested using the "best" parts they had in mind. They mentioned adding an Intel i9-10900K, but Intel has been delaying shipping and offered to replace it with an i9-10900F for $20 less. I looked up some online reviews, but the technical details are confusing. Should you choose the i9-10900F now or wait for the i9-10900K, which is expected around early August but might still be delayed? Thanks ahead!

10900F lacks an integrated GPU, but if it has a discrete one, that's fine.

Performance differences at launch are minimal since they're essentially the same chip. Overclocking allows the 10900K to surpass the 10900F. The shipping package depends on the board type—save if it's a B series, or choose K for Z series if you have time.

The 10900F lacks an integrated GPU and is also restricted, with reduced base and boost speeds. For just $20 more, I wouldn’t care about it.

Honestly, achieving significant boosts on the 10900k can be quite challenging due to its demanding cooling requirements. You might only manage a modest increase of 100-200 MHz at most. Ultimately, the choice depends on your goals. I’d pick k because I’m passionate about overclocking and appreciate the time it takes to fine-tune stable results (my 9900k was particularly tricky to stabilize). Both options have their merits—just consider what matters most to you.

10900F runs at 2.8GHz, 10900K offers 3.7GHz with 65W, the UK price gap is about £70—roughly a $20 savings for a fast switch? Sounds like you’re being tempted...

It only costs about $20 less, which feels like avoiding the issue. I don’t know the current prices, but it’s strange to create a nonK chip.

They're proposing a deal that cuts the price by $20, but in return you'd lose 24% of the base frequency, overclocking features (including multicore enhancements), and the iGPU. That sounds like a poor trade. The 10900F doesn't seem to justify its asking price against competitors. I'd really like to see Intel push 9.7 GHz at 125 watts. It's unclear what improvements would be needed for 14 nm technology to achieve that.
