I3 330m plus 5650 CS:GO
He gave me a free laptop with an i3 330m, HD 5650M, 4GB RAM, and no hard drive. I have a 250GB 2.5-inch HDD. My main concern is running CS:GO at 720p—what settings should I use and what frame rate will it need?
1366x768 at around 45fps smooth performance, though not exactly enjoyable. The machine overheated quickly and produced a lot of noise. My Sony Vaio matches those specs—lower GPU power and about 500MB VRAM.
Reviewing this site (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyr...11422/?p=r) suggests you should be able to enjoy gameplay at low to mid performance around 60 frames per second. I’d try it myself since my machine uses the same graphics card (HP Pavilion DV6 3010AX). Although it only has a 1.6GHz Phenom II X4, it performs better than an i3 in gaming. Note: You might achieve even higher settings at 60 FPS, as seen with my 2006 Tecra M5 using a Quadro NVS110M and Core 2 Duo T7600.
These models tend to run extremely high, often reaching temperatures around 100°C.
