I pushed my PC's overclocking too far and it's not starting. Need help!
So, today I felt a bit bored and decided to push my PC to its limits! I increased my CPU speed from 3.5 to 4 GHz and my RAM from 2400 MHz to 3200 MHz. This was the worst experience I've ever had. Also, I bought my PC two weeks ago.
I attempted to remove the motherboard battery for an hour and relocated the RAM, but nothing changed. Yes, the fans are spinning and all the lights are working, but the monitor shows: no signal. Please help! I'm really desperate!
I don't know what to say. If clearing the CMOS didn't bring the BIOS back to default, and you're seeing a not detecting cpu warning, the only advice I can give is to inspect all power connections from the power supply to the motherboard, paying close attention to the 24 pin and 8 (or 4) pin CPU connections.
Gently press the two pins together using a small metal screwdriver for the duration specified in the manual. Make sure you're certain you don't have a jumper. It is usually connected to two of the three pins. Simply relocate it to the remaining pin along with the middle pin.
Msi managed to save just a couple of cents by using only two pins, without needing a jumper.
I checked the Gigabyte motherboard manual, and it mentions just two pins. The instructions say to connect the jumper to one of them using a small metal screwdriver for a short time.
I definitely don't have a jumper. What other options are there?
