Hey there, I understand your concern. You received a message from Microsoft on the 18th about a password change based on your IP address, but you didn’t do anything. For someone new to this, I’d suggest looking into reputable security tools like Bitwarden or 1Password. They offer strong encryption and help protect your IP data. If you want, I can guide you through setting them up step by step. Let me know!

I think there might be malware on your system, so start by checking for it first. Run an antivirus scan and update your password. Also, turn on two-factor authentication—it's important.

You can check your account settings in Malwarebytes and SpyBot to ensure they're enabled. For two-factor authentication, follow the on-screen instructions in Windows Defender or your chosen service. If unsure, consult their official documentation or support pages.

It was unusual that I didn’t receive any email or phone confirmation when the change occurred.

Make sure it comes from Microsoft; it might be a phishing attempt. Consider using an app like Google Authenticator for better security.

That seems genuine. I'm still trying to figure out if it's a keylogger or something similar, but there aren't many obvious signs. If you can get into your account, you shouldn't be too concerned.

Are there any options available to protect your IP address? Such as a VPN or similar service? I’m open to spending money if it means securing my PC. I prefer not to rely on online suggestions.

The VPN won't be useful in this case. All sites are already secured with HTTPS for emails. Just ensure the defender is activated, enable 2FA for accounts, and update all your passwords.
