I have an Intel Core I7-7700k and was playing GTA5. It felt a bit slow, so I checked my task manager to see if any processes were using too much CPU. I found it was only running at 0.80GHz while it should be around 4.20GHz. I tried resetting the BIOS, but that didn’t help. I also attempted to enable turbo boost, but it failed. I looked into driver updates in the BIOS, but everything was up to date. I checked the fan headers and everything seemed correct. I’ve tried almost everything, but I still can’t figure out why the performance drops so drastically. Please help me.

Have you verified the thermal readings? (Recommended tool: HWiNFO64)

Install HWiNFO64, select "Sensors only" upon launching, and check the CPU temperatures.

You've downloaded the app and selected the sensors feature. Now you should see a list or options for the available sensors to configure or view their settings.

Monitor the game while playing – keep an eye on both temperature and clock speeds.

Uncertain about verifying clock speeds, but temperatures increased by one degree.
