I really like the Classic Start option more than the original. It offers much better customization. I've only noticed it's not working well when Windows Explorer isn't responsive.

The Start Screen offers strong functionality when you understand how to utilize it. In my opinion, it outperforms the Start Menu significantly, which is why I favor it over switching back. It saves you from unnecessary clicks and long journeys to accomplish tasks. However, if you prefer avoiding the learning process or dislike it, I recommend exploring alternative Start Menu solutions rather than modifying the system yourself. Most users who encounter issues after a service pack or Windows update face problems such as altered system files, unresponsive registry entries, or interference from antivirus software mistakenly blocking updates. Sometimes a registry cleaner has been used, or an anti-virus program has mistakenly restricted upgrades. System maintenance tools have also been employed in some cases. In short, steer clear of the tweaked system software and consider using a more user-friendly Start Menu replacement option.

I find the beginning screen unappealing, and the search feature isn't very precise—especially when looking for items in StartIsBack, it sometimes returns results that aren't on the screen. Since I mostly rely on my Start menu for typing programs, I don’t want the whole screen occupied by it. This is just a matter of how my workflow differs from others.

I share your thoughts on Windows 8, though I’m comfortable with the 8.1 version. You can press Win+Q to exit, and it will show a search bar. Yes, I get the idea.

Create the essential parts of the operating system solely to restore the start menu. Folks are insane...

You might also choose to set up Windows 7 using the existing disk you already possess.
