I've spent a lot of time playing console games for years, but over the past five years I've grown more attached to PC gaming. There are clear benefits to playing on a PC—like a stronger system, the ability to adjust settings, and the fact that games are now often available for affordable prices thanks to digital downloads. Even though I enjoy the extra quality of using my own computer, I still find RPGs more comfortable when played with a controller. I was interested in learning what others thought about this difference in control methods.

It varies by game; controllers feel smoother in racing but FPS mice are more comfortable during long sessions.

For all other tasks, use keyboard and mouse instead of driving.

Keyboard for all other games except racing titles, GTA, and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Next, I rely on the reliable Logitech Dual Action controller.

Just use a regular mouse or keyboard, though a controller can feel better sometimes.

It varies by game. I use a mouse and keyboard for FPS because of the high precision, and I switch to a controller for less-optimized titles.

I've spent a lot of time playing on consoles, but with controllers, it's hard to match the precision you get with a mouse.

Support all opinions. Use keyboard and mouse except for racing games. I recently attempted to play Alien: Isolation with my controller. Since I wanted to relax, I tried it and quit after five minutes before returning to my usual setup

We definitely discussed that topic last time, though it mostly involved using a mouse and keyboard for better precision and control. The main exceptions were racing and fighting games.

Sometimes I miss the physical analog stick. It lets you control at any speed you like—not just walking or running. For me, it’s not just about racing games. I can’t imagine playing SpeedRunners with a keyboard (it’s more of a platformer).
