I rely solely on Hangouts with loved ones and text messages. My internet is always stable, not just 3/4G. Using WhatsApp costs me about one euro each year.
WhatsApp, Viber, Skype lines aren't working well lately. Phone calls sound poor now, even though Viber was good before. I mostly use LINE because of peer pressure before Skype; I rely on Hangouts a lot. HD video calls are limited to quad-core devices only, which is frustrating. For WhatsApp, I never paid for data—every year they give a free 1-year plan, which is convenient and fast. I still prefer Viber since it has more fun emojis. Also, I never use any data from my phone carrier; I always connect via Wi-Fi. A 10GB plan for $20 seems too cheap.
Meh, Hangouts remains my top pick. I’d stick to the Messages app on my phone if a friend didn’t introduce me to it.
SMS is mainly used. WhatsApp wasn’t paid for and I’m clear—I haven’t done anything illegal. I’d likely prefer Facebook Messenger since most people use it, but I don’t use it myself.
It's really bad. You can get free data for around €19, including the unlimited Instagram data, on Bitė.
Kik and SMS. Occasionally iMessage while using my iPad. But almost never.
