Are you referring to something mentioned in the bios? Also, sometimes on your Z170 motherboard you need to turn on M.2 in the BIOS settings.
Certain boards turn off a SATA connection if the M.2 slot is already in use. You might need to activate it through the BIOS settings.
Check BIOS settings, then move to Disk Management for formatting and letter assignment.
