You're feeling frustrated, that's totally normal. It sounds like you've put a lot of effort into setting up your new PC, especially with the 4080 GPU. The fact that you're still getting only beeps and no screen after installation suggests there might be an issue with the motherboard or the BIOS settings. Since the 4080 is PCIe Gen 4, it should work in a Gen 5 slot too, but if it doesn't, it could point to a compatibility problem. Have you checked the CMOS reset or tried a different slot? Also, make sure the GPU is properly seated and that the BIOS is set to the correct version. If you're unsure, reaching out to a tech support person or a more experienced user might help resolve this.
Additional confirmations requested. Have you used the RTX 4080 in a different setup before? Do you have another graphics card available for testing in the main slot? An alternative would be exploring PCIe 1.1, 2.0, or 3.0 versus the standard 4.0 with auto negotiation. There are known issues with the RTX 4090 where it has trouble negotiating certain PCIe versions, sometimes only being able to POST on PCIe 1.1.
Also check whether the card includes a Silent/OC toggle at the front, which can change between two distinct vBIOS versions with varying boost and fan settings. Relying on just one might lead to issues, so verifying the alternative EEPROM or firmware is wise.
I don't have any other PCs right now. I could run my old one, but it would take some time since I disassembled it. The case I have is the one from my new PC, which has a PCIe 3 slot—uncertain if that would work. I only have my 1070 GPU besides the 4080. Do you think this might be an issue? Would you like me to put it back at the top and test different settings to see what works? Because I did try changing it to Gen for before from auto mode.
It reminds me of the dual bios section—oh, maybe that's it! Sorry, I seem to be confused too.
It seems you're checking if it's set to P mode, but the details are unclear. Could you clarify what you're referring to?
