Concerning the damaged BIOS: In step 4 of my initial post - 4. ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 utility – I followed the instructions from the motherboard owner’s manual. On startup and inserting the USB with the renamed BIOS on it screen stays black – nothing occurs. I think it might not be detecting the USB stick.
Additionally, perhaps it isn’t detecting the USB stick or the keyboard [either USB or PS/2] for any reason?
Do not press any buttons during startup without an OS drive. The sound system will automatically enter BIOS. If it doesn’t, BIOS is likely broken. For most situations, MoBo is also affected. Edit: In a possible scenario where the iGPU on your i5-8600K is malfunctioning in the H370M chipset, MoBo or the video port issue might be the cause. Apply the same steps for your Z390 chipset build. BIOS may appear at a much lower resolution than the standard 1080p. If the iGPU fails to handle it (which it should), no image will display.
