I disabled my RAM slots.
I was attempting to upgrade my RAM but mistakenly installed them in reverse. Because my motherboard only has one side for the slots, it ended up being attached incorrectly. It was quite dark under my desk. When I powered on my PC, a strong burning odor emerged from the motherboard. I immediately turned off the power supply. Unfortunately, the damage was already done—the RAM slots were affected, though both of the damaged sticks were otherwise intact. Can I fix this myself, or do I need to replace the board?
And possibly a replacement CPU if the memory controller failed (if it's built in).
The CPU is working properly. The only issue was a burned RAM slot. All other components are fine.
