I was attempting to upgrade my RAM but mistakenly installed them in reverse. Because my motherboard only has one side for the slots, it ended up being attached incorrectly. It was quite dark under my desk. When I powered on my PC, a strong burning odor emerged from the motherboard. I immediately turned off the power supply. Unfortunately, the damage was already done—the RAM slots were affected, though both of the damaged sticks were otherwise intact. Can I fix this myself, or do I need to replace the board?

That's a newer type of RAM. Most modern systems use DDR4 or DDR5, which include security features to protect against unauthorized access.

New board I'm afraid. Are you sure your RAM is OK too? Like I'm surprised there isn't a burn mark on the pins of the RAM where they connected to the Motherboard.
