Since you tossed out the board, maybe you should recheck it to make sure it's okay. I've felt some irritation, but until there are burn marks, nothing’s certain.

You could replace the ram slots with a donor board but you'd need some pretty advanced soldering skills. Plus no guarantee that it solves the issue.
