Hey, I have this .bin file ready to put into my computer's BIOS. How do I actually go about flashing it? Does that mean I only need to make a bootable USB stick using something like Rufus? That sounds perfect!

There might be a Windows tool to change the BIOS, but otherwise you are supposed to start up on DOS and run the program yourself manually. If there isn't one built in, maybe you could use a general BIOS flasher instead. In any case, I don't recommend doing anything because you could easily break your computer (stop it from starting) forever.

You either flash or change the BIOS according to how the specific brand instructs you. Just follow their instructions exactly and don't make any mistakes.

Yeah, that would be awesome if they told you straight up. Most times, they just send a .zip file with a burner and a bin, so you have to guess what the password is on your own.

Thanks for getting back to me. After a long search, I found the .bin file needed to update the laptop's CQ56-a10SA BIOS memory. There is no guide here, just one small file. How do you normally use this file to flash the BIOS?

There might be a Windows tool to change the BIOS settings, but if there isn't one, you should probably just run the program manually from DOS. If no flashing software is available on the site, you could try using a general bios flasher instead. I don't think that's safe though because messing with your laptop like that can easily ruin it and stop it from starting up again.
