How to turn off fTPM 2.0 on Windows 11 when the BIOS doesn't have that option?
How to turn off fTPM 2.0 on Windows 11 when the BIOS doesn't have that option?
Hey everyone! Thanks for giving me a chance to read this. I've been dealing with a laptop stutter for at least seven months and have been searching online for solutions.
I finally identified the cause—it's related to AMD and fTPM conflicting, which leads to a consistent gaming stutter every other minute. It's pretty odd how it affects my gameplay, but I'm determined to fix it.
I don't see the fTPM feature in my UEFI BIOS (check the details below for more info).
BIOS Version/Date:
American Megatrends International, LLC. G513QY.331, 2/24/2023
Anyone know where to find it? I'll include screenshots in this Google Doc link.
Thanks again, everyone! I've tried several methods, which I'll list here to keep things simple. If it happens again, well, at least I've got a plan.
1. In PowerShell, I disabled TPM Auto Provisioning using this command, thinking it would close TPM settings:
Disable-Tpmautoprovisioning
It turned out nothing new was open, and after testing, the stutter still occurred.
So I re-enabled it.
2. I turned off Secure Boot in the BIOS menu to see if that helped.
Nothing changed in the game stutter, so I figured Secure Boot wasn't the issue.
3. I opened the dialogue box (Windows + R) and typed in tpm.msc to try disabling it.
Surprisingly, there was no disable option—just a clear and refresh prompt.
Still, I tested it, and the stutter persisted.
you cannot turn it off on this laptop
are all drivers installed? amd chipset and gpu drivers from asus.com website?
run other tests to confirm it’s tpm related
use userbenchmark.com and share the link of your results, for example: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28977730

examine memory using memtest.org usb autoinstaller (bootable USB)
inspect the hard drive with its manufacturer’s tool and update firmware if available
The system confirmed that the "restore operation completed successfully. . .100%"
Im in the middle of the Memory test. This one is taking awhile haha. 30m so far. Anywho, no errors as of yet.
The userbenchmark link u sent, I was so confused as per the results lol. Some of the things seemed to be missing. Or maybe there’s something
I’m
missing…?
at times userbenchmark does not finish certain tests. Mabxy retries without any other actions available after a restart or when running with administrator privileges.
Hey HelpStar, I ran all the tests and performed a cleanboot, but the stutter persisted. I’ll try the userbenchmark again according to your instructions and check if it helps. For context, this link might offer more clarity on the issue. It was the moment that clicked for me.
