I believe 1.35 is roughly the maximum you should push for regular overclocking. In fact, with an 8600k processor at 1.35v it should easily reach 5ghz, though silicon quality plays a big role. My 8700k achieved 5ghz at 1.30v, but that was quite low—most will be higher. Spend a lot of time searching online; there are plenty of guides for both models. For stress testing, use ASUS Real Bench. Run it for about 8 hours and see if it stays stable. If it fails, don’t worry—it means you’re not stable enough. Keep lowering the voltage until stability returns, then gradually increase it once you hit your target speed. This process might take several days to perfect.

GN Steve mentioned that with a standard LLC you can maintain performance up to 1.4V, provided cooling is adequate. Keep in mind that a higher LLC rating of 1.35V might actually deliver more voltage during operation than 1.4V with a regular LLC.

How to establish an LLC? I currently have it priced at 1.210V and operating at 4.3 GHz with stable performance.

Depends heavily on the CPU model, cooler type, and intended runtime at that voltage. I've tested many CPUs running at 1.5-1.8V for extended periods without problems. However, if I freeze my coolants when exceeding 1.7V, it becomes a concern. For 8600K temperatures, I'd limit myself to: stock cooler 1.25v, smaller air coolers (120mm), 1.3v big air, 240-360mm AIO (1.35v), custom loop with 360mm radius (depends on your setup), and 1.4V+ sub zero—at which point you should probably run tests yourself.

Been running around 1.37 volts high on the LLC at the middle setting for about three years now while working on a 5GHz 8700k processor.
