Purchase a Windows key and create a Windows USB installer. Insert the drive into the BIOS, start up, press the BIOS key to access boot options, select install via USB, set up Windows on a new HDD (delete existing partitions). You now have a fresh Windows copy, ideally.

Consider sending the manufacturing team a restore CD, then build a bootable USB and transfer the data onto it.

It seems Windows Vista deserves a more fitting name, doesn't it? A name like Windows Blister would make more sense.

You probably shouldn't try that. It's better to start with an ISO from the CD and then transfer it using a program that copies the ISO to your USB drive, making it bootable.

I’m not purchasing Windows since I intend to sell the laptop, which is about $100. Buying Windows would mean losing that value.
