Is there a problem with AMD CPUs and MSI motherboards? More specifically, when using the AMD R7 9800X3D together with the MSI X670E Gaming Plus WiFi, does this cause issues? The issue is that when I enter "Safe Mode" and restart, the computer won't turn on again. I have to take out the battery and reset it just so it comes back online, which then means I still need to reinstall Windows. This happens too if I try to update the BIOS. Thanks for your help.

Are there problems with AMD CPUs and MSI motherboards? No, that problem isn't on Asus, MSI, or Gigabyte boards. It is actually specific to ASRock boards. When I turn it off and back on into Safe Mode, the computer refuses to start up again. To help people solve this, please list all your parts like this: CPU: CPU cooler: Motherboard: Ram: SSD/HDD: GPU: PSU: Chassis: OS: Monitor: Also tell me how old your power supply is besides making and model number. Tell me the BIOS version on your motherboard right now too. The reason is that when I boot into Safe Mode and restart, it won't come up so I have to take out the battery and reset it just for the machine to turn back on online. Did you recycle an old hard drive? Where did you get your Windows installer from? If I want to update the BIOS, does the same problem happen? How are you trying to update the BIOS on your motherboard right now? Just by the way, you need to flash the BIOS to a newer version before you can use your 9800X3D. Moved thread from PC Gaming section to Systems section.

The system has only been running for about three weeks. I asked if I could flash the BIOS because that's what happened when I tried it. The computer stopped working after my change. That's why I wanted to ask first. Also, with all due respect. Why do you need my whole specs list? Just kidding... maybe just the power supply, which is a Corsair RM 1200x Shift 80 Plus Gold?

To share a smart opinion, you first have to know what matters to everyone else. That is a polite habit people keep.

We need to know which parts you have to fix so it works better and finds out what's wrong with your PC. Is there something personal that you don't want to share about your specific computer setup? If not, this is how we usually get free help from good workers. Can you tell me the version of the BIOS? What update method did you try?

I can answer your question directly. Generally speaking, no, but only if you already own a good AMD 9800X3D processor and an MSI X670E Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard with the newest BIOS installed on that board. There are many ways to change the BIOS file, so which one did you try? These problems point toward many specific and unique issues that need different fixes. To figure out exactly what's wrong I need more details about your computer. Do you want me to walk through a long list of all possible hypothetical causes for this type of trouble?

I put the new BIOS file on a USB stick, plugged that drive into my computer, restarted it so the BIOS would open, and then flashed the update inside.

Did the BIOS update fix anything or break things? MSI's M-flash is known for crashing when you are in the middle of an upgrade. Does the computer work right after a system reboot? If yes, restart the PC and try setting the BIOS back to how it was before, then use the machine to see if the issue goes away.

Try flashing the BIOS in a way like this instead. If the BIOS update works and keeps things stable, go ahead and try installing Windows. Make sure everything stays working after the update happens. Share what you find out with me later.
