High temperature is causing issues with my 1080Ti processor.
Hello, I just purchased the 1080Ti from my cousin after getting a new 2080 from him. After installing the clean driver, I noticed high CPU usage when playing RDR2 and other games at 1080p 60Hz. I’m wondering what a 1511 Skylake would be suitable for as an upgrade. Please let me know.
The most promising improvement you might notice is with the i7-6700k. I’d consider purchasing it secondhand on eBay, which currently sells for about $250 to $275.
It's not worthwhile to stay on the old 1151 model. You can get a Ryzen 1600 AF and B450 board for a lower price than the 6700/k.
It seems quad-core processors are becoming outdated in most recent gaming setups. I was considering upgrading to an i5, thinking a 6.7 GHz would be ideal given my 1511 socket count. I also want to highlight why I chose the 1080Ti—my cousin upgraded with a new GPU, and the price was too good to pass up. I got my ASUS Strix for just 290 euros.
you could easily assemble an r7 2700+b450+16gb system for roughly 325 usd, which seems like a better choice than purchasing a 6700k.
there are other titles besides rdr2 that perform well; it spikes around 80-99 load and can stutter during startup. I remember you mentioned wanting a boost, so upgrading both the CPU and motherboard might be the best approach.
With a Z170 the i7 7700K is a viable choice if it offers better value compared to a b450+R5 3600, which are the only comparable options available.
He changed the graphics card from 1080 Ti to 2080 for better performance and visual quality.
