High temperature is causing issues with my 1080Ti processor.
After some thought, I need to switch to an AMD system right now. I'm looking at these two parts: the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (already locked) and the Asus PRIME X570-P. I should also consider adding RAM later, as my current 2666 GB is quite high. This is my first time building with AMD, so I'm getting some advice on whether this setup makes sense.
You don't have to purchase X570 chipset boards if you want to cut costs on a B450 board, though the Prime-P offers solid value for its price. The R5 3600 provides significantly more headroom than the 6600K, and in my opinion, you shouldn’t replace memory just yet—3000 series Ryzen still performs much better even with slower RAM compared to earlier generations. You can repurpose the kit if you're clever enough to post a question about overclocking memory.
I did heard some stuff with bios upgrade as far as i understand it is kinda messy you have to downgrade in order to upgrade or something like that i may be wrong. Curently theres a store in my town that has the prime p for 160 euros so i dont know maybe the gods are telling me something as for ram i can upgrade it in the summer if 3K series will be managable with slower memory until then, i'm still baffled that i5s are becoming obsolete for gaming as a year ago people were still telling that quad core is all u need.... the futurue really is old
Lol when the 8600k hit two years back folks thought it caused bottlenecks (100% cpu load 85fps). ACO on launch most people laughed at first but if you're setting up a new rig a 3600 (6c/12t) is actually the baseline. A x570 gives you some headroom for cheaper 8/16 cores later. Monster Hunter was nearly impossible on 4 cores when it launched in August 2018. I really miss those days when the x570 elite was still around 175usd but now prices mean a tough pick between the prime-p and the elite
