For those unfamiliar, Bulk Wifi refers to an arrangement where an apartment complex collaborates with a particular Internet service to offer better pricing or packages. The router used in such setups is installed inside the building, and residents cannot modify it—no password changes, no DnS adjustments, and definitely no WPS button access.

Currently, my new apartment is experiencing significant fluctuations in speed, which is quite impressive. However, the Ethernet port near the living room is roughly 100 feet away from our office area. I’m wondering if it’s possible to extend the Ethernet connection using an extender or mesh network setup. After checking Amazon, I found no clear mention of Bulk Wifi compatibility. It seems the only viable option might be purchasing a long Ethernet cable and running it throughout the apartment.

Have others had success with Bulk WiFi before? This is my first encounter with the service, and we don’t have direct access to the WPS button, making any adjustments extremely difficult.

I would personally lay a long, slim Ethernet cable from the living room and terminate it wherever you're comfortable. Then I would connect it to a wireless router (LAN port, not WAN port), and broadcast any SSID you prefer. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=4...3nmfY82_gi That's what I did at work to improve Wi-Fi in a basement office where I and four others lived.

It's just separate vlans with some security. Any standard router, switch, mesh, etc., should work fine. They just assigned random names to their setup. Just run a thin or flat cable to your office if possible. If not, set up a mesh wifi network of your choice and consider it complete. I could plug in a basic 4-port cheap tp link at the entrance of your apartment—just have more ports ready if needed.

I received this from a friend via the link you shared. The setup went through the website and linked to an internal router, forming a mesh network without issues. However, once I plugged in an Ethernet cable and connected my PC, it didn’t get internet access. It might be related to a DNS problem? I’m not sure.

It’s not a mesh unit; it’s a WiFi range booster. It functions in a different way. Do you have any indication of the Rockspace AC1200’s status indicators?

Power and signal appear blue, but there’s no WPS available since I can’t activate it on our router. The manual mentions that the repeater is linked to your current Wi-Fi and placed correctly.

If you haven't adjusted the extender settings to identify connections, you'll need to handle this manually. Refer to the manual for guidance on avoiding WPS usage.

The internet service provider refused to send a technician, so we purchased a 40-foot Ethernet cable instead. Thank you for your feedback and assistance.

What will you connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to? A wireless router, such as this Wi-Fi 6E model? Or a managed network switch, like this 8-port gigabit switch? Either option? Purchasing an extended cable is just part of the answer.
