The opposite side is a PC. The 40-foot cable setup was recommended by the internet service provider, stating the router can't handle any additional extenders or routers, making this option unnecessary and wasteful.

I'm puzzled about why you came seeking assistance and then attempted a workaround that wasn't recommended. After being informed your approach wouldn't succeed, you seem to be giving up. Could you clarify whether your Wi-Fi uses a captive portal or restricts devices per port? I suspect the provider is trying to deter you from exploring alternatives. I’d still consider visiting Best Buy or purchasing an affordable router online if it doesn’t meet expectations. Having reliable internet is crucial today, and there’s no harm in testing a different solution. No financial risk, just a minor time investment.

It seems like a major security issue. They just assume you’ll connect your device to an unknown port without understanding what’s on the other side. I wouldn’t handle any banking or personal information on this system.
