High CPU usage during gameplay, absent in load test metrics (p95).
Hey there! I'm a bit confused about what's going on here. While playing with friends (Rainbow 6 Siege if you're curious), I checked my computer case and saw it getting quite warm. Using Open Hardware Monitor, I discovered that my CPU temperatures hit a peak of 100°C—which isn't great. After analyzing the data over 24 hours, I ran p95 and found the CPU usually peaks around 70°C, suggesting it should cool down nicely. Looking at the graphs, most temps stay near 90°C, though I focused on just one core for simplicity. Could this be due to residual heat from my GPU? It seems to reach about 80°C. Maybe adding more exhaust fans would help improve airflow through the unit? Right now I have one exhaust fan and three intake CPUs, all of which are AIO models: i7-9700K, 3070Ti, 32GB RAM, Asus TUF Z390-PLUS, gaming build.
I might change the thermal paste on the AIO and check for other overheating issues. If the GPU stays warm, it could mean there aren't enough heat paths. Also, if your AIO is more than 5 to 6 years old, I'd consider replacing it.
Hey @Blick4 Thanks for the reply, Already replaced thermal paste should've mentioned that. GPU peaks at 80c - so seems fine, right? Im not QUITE sure how old the AIO is, as i bought this computer second hand a few months ago - and replaced parts since (GPU and RAM). I don't mind in investing in a new AIO, but do you have any idea how to know that's in fact the problem?
You can verify fan RPMs and pump speed using tools like HWMonitor or HWInfo (links provided). Check the AIO’s spec sheet for any discrepancies. Adjusting fan and pump speeds in BIOS may also provide relief.
Oops, I missed those links. Here are the references you provided:

- [HWInfo](https://www.hwinfo.com/)
Here’s a clearer version of your message:
The data you received from OHM appears to be consistent across different entries. It shows fan control settings during gaming, and it seems unrelated to RPM values.
It might be related to the RPM setting. Checking the BIOS and turning the fans up could help.
You notice just a single fan control listed, showing speeds around 2000-2100 RPMs during gameplay.
