Hey, is that gaming setup up to scratch?
Is this setup really enough or would you change anything? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/q8JhTM I like playing all kinds of games, especially those that need a lot of graphics power and use my CPU hard. As a programmer, I also love multitasking right now. My monitor is 1440p but next time I want to upgrade it, I plan to get a 4k one. I already have a 4k gaming TV in the back that I will connect if needed for games like Witcher 3. Regarding storage, out of my three drives, only "TEAMGROUP MP33 1TB" is new. Should I use the old ones? The old NVMe drive is six years old and the SSD is three.
The new AMD and Nvidia gpu's support PCIe 5.0 so find a board that supports PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card. I assumed that the Asus B650E MAX GAMING WIFI card has PCIE 5.0 built-in, but maybe I was wrong about that.
I would suggest buying a brand new chipset like B850 or X870 to pair up with your 7800X3D or 9800X3D. The ASRock X870 Pro RS WiFi is a solid choice for the price. But if you need help doing work, you might look at other processors since these gaming chips aren't great for tasks compared to the 9900X or the Core i7-265K (especially the older 7800X3D). For gaming, the difference in performance between them on a 1440p monitor and even more so on a 4K screen is almost nothing with an RTX 5080.
I just got a good deal on an 7800x3d with the mobo I recommended. It will cost me $160+ more to get a 9800x3d and the mobo you suggested, but not sure if that is worth it!
If you want to play games, go with the 7800X3D. If you care about what comes next in computers, spending a bit more on the $30 motherboard now could save you later.
