Consider advising your friend to switch to Windows 10 if they want broader capabilities and compatibility with more software. Since they mainly use the computer for documents, it might not be essential right now.

Only when he avoids downloading anything and stays solely on Wikipedia will it work on the W10. If the system has at least 2GB of RAM, it should function properly.
