Although that is a solid recommendation for older titles or for recording/streaming games and other multi-tasking/stability advantages, the upgrade route for his motherboard when using a cheap i7 or Xeon won’t significantly impact RDR2 performance if his RAM remains at 8GB.
If his motherboard supported overclocking, such as with a K i7, it could potentially improve results. Still, his RAM would still require an upgrade. It’s much more affordable and simpler to just install an 8GB RAM stick for $25 to $30 on new or $15 to $20 used.
Having only 8GB of RAM in RDR2 won’t be sufficient for stability, particularly with the DDR3-1333/1600 speed supported by his motherboard.
