Help needed with OC xeon x3440
I'm using an ASUS P7H55 M-LX motherboard with an xeon x3440 CPU, 6GB RAM at 1333MHz, and I'm trying to overclock it using a BIOS setup with jumper-free configuration. The BIOS includes an AI OC Tuner feature that I'm not familiar with. There aren't many guides for this setup, especially since the motherboard is older. If someone has experience, please let me know. Thank you.
I own an i7-875k with p7p55d and am reaching 4.1 ghz using 1.4vcore and 1.2 vtt (below 185 blck, otherwise requires significantly more vtt). I’m also using two 8gb ram sticks despite the manual limiting to 4gb; it works well with 8gb if you intend to upgrade later. Just avoid using the AI OC tuner—it’s terrible.
What kind of cooling system do you have?
EDIT: Also, could you share details about your graphics card so we can confirm whether overclocking is necessary or if you’re hitting a bottleneck?
My GPU is a GTX 750 Ti and I'm using CoolMaster Hyper 212 for cooling.
750 ti is limiting your CPU performance even when it's running at full speed. Consider upgrading your GPU first, then think about overclocking once again. You could also look into getting at least 8Gb of RAM, depending on whether you're gaming or what you need for your desktop PC.
I possess an extra 2 gb of RAM, though the motherboard only features 2 RAM slots. The CPU overclocking was intended to enhance performance for demanding desktop tasks.
Make sure all your RAM sticks match the same model, and avoid adding extra ones if they don't fit.
In gaming on PubG and for work using Adobe Premiere Pro, I understand that performance relies on your GPU. Playing at 900p might require a slight boost in OC settings.
What kind of power supply do you use? Are all your 6GB RAM sticks identical in model? Do you have an SSD or HDD? Also, please share screenshots from your BIOS where the voltage and black values are listed under the overclocking section.
