I noticed the typical 5-degree drop around 9900k, which is why I delayed it. It seems I should locate my heatgun and tackle this as well. I already have my Dauber kit ready for the job. Sorry for taking your thread, but I’d repaste that GPU. Four to five years is a long time for thermal paste—seems like I’ll need to do this on both my 2080 Ti models. But I’ll have to drain my custom loop first.

I could be lucky with the degree drop, I didn't overclock the CPU, just used XMP for the boost.

I experienced a 20-degree drop from just applying the regular cooling paste last week. That happened two years ago.

You're satisfied with the current performance, so no upgrade needed. If not, upgrading is the right choice. I've had a 4790K for five years and never considered it outdated.
