I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 with six cores at 3.20 GHz and a GTX 1080. My performance is lower than friends, even though their setups are much better. Should I try overclocking or should I upgrade to a new CPU? And if I do, which one should I get—Intel or AMD?

What titles are active? Which benchmarks are you referencing? What configurations are you using?

What's your CPU's current clock speed? Occasionally Ryzen processors can freeze at a specific frequency, requiring a CMOS reset.

I've been enjoying a lot of Far Cry 4 across various settings. The best I've managed on Ultra is around 60 FPS, but it often falls to 40. When I adjust GeForce settings to the right configuration, it still shows Ultra. Borderlands 2 is a game where I only reach over 100 FPS when I push myself really hard. A friend with a GTX 970 and Intel i5 consistently hits over 100 FPS.

Avoid using GeForce Experience as it doesn’t improve performance. Set lower settings like High. How fast is your memory? What’s the activity level of your GPU and CPU during games?

Access the task manager through its interface and navigate to the performance section.

My CPU usage is around 60-70 during gameplay, and I've tried all the settings but it's still not good. I only know my system has 16 GB of RAM.

Task Manager will display memory speed details. Apply MSI Afterburner to monitor GPU utilization.
