I have a 13900k that's been cooled by an NH-U12a in a fractal torrent. It reaches 95 degrees during testing, which is quite high. I've changed the thermal paste but nothing has improved. Sometimes it drops to 70 when running lighter tasks like Chrome. I disabled multi-core optimization and set undervoltage to 0.075, yet it remains hot. Is this typical for a 13900k or could it harm your CPU?

The nhd15 struggles to keep up with high temperatures like 13900k, let alone lower-end models. Consider a more efficient cooler since current options are mostly struggling with heat.

It seems you're pointing out that using a cooler with a low TDP rating for a CPU that needs more cooling isn't ideal. You should consider a higher-quality cooler to effectively manage heat.

Upgrade to a more efficient cooler. Your current setup struggles with high temperatures and lacks the capacity for higher heat loads. A better solution would provide more headroom and stability.

The Noctuas site claims compatibility with overclocking, but I’m unable to install a dh15 due to insufficient RAM height.

Noctua offers a TDP rating, but their specs vary across components like Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, etc. Be cautious of claims on manufacturer sites—real-world testing matters. A 15mm H15 at full speed in a well-ventilated case can handle a stock 13900k at 90-95°C. What RAM do you have?

Without adjusting the power cap or voltage, this cooler won't handle the intense performance of the chip.

Noctua provides extensive reasons for why lower TDP ratings perform better, contrary to common belief. Check their official standards page for more details.

It seems you're suggesting that wanting a certain appearance might push you toward extreme measures for a desired look.
