The Crystal Disk Info report looks like this: While the drive sounds like this: https://audio.com/soan/audio/audio-2024-02-27-00 -33-49 Do I trust the report or do I trust my ears? This is a refurbished 12TB Segate Exos x16 Drive.# Edit: This is not while Idle, though! It is only when reading or writing files.
Other hard drives continue to buzz even when operating at maximum capacity. This is the only one producing more noise than my CPU and GPU fans.
I don’t rely on enterprise hard drives (like WD Red Pros); they’re noticeably louder than regular WD drives. The noise in the link seems fairly standard, just a bit more pronounced, probably because enterprise drives aren’t meant for audible environments—mostly hidden where it doesn’t matter.
