It's surprising it works well again.

They remain based on the 30 series connector, meaning the size stays consistent. It seems they’re meant to work backward (if possible), allowing a newer standard on a 30 series setup, though they don’t work forward—so a 30 series cable won’t fit a 50 series card.

However, the cable lacking sense pins seems to work with other cards. According to ATX3.0 psus, they are compatible with additional cards (at least that's what I believed). Edited February 5 by leclod

Only 12-pin connectors (3090FE) work with current 12VHPWR cables. The orientation pins won't connect to anything.

Using a 12-pin connector without the proper signal pins on newer cards likely won't work. These pins help the GPU understand power requirements, which is important for safety.

It's logical. He made a pretty bad choice, purchasing that cable that doesn't really belong there. Edited February 5 by leclod

I searched for “12 pin Corsair GPU cable” and found the top result, then placed an order at Best Buy. I’m hoping to get it back or replace it, but I messed up by discarding the packaging in the trash.

Some errors are worse than others, at least you avoided damaging your GPU. Edited February 5 by leclod
