I recently chose to stop using the pre-run Cat 5e in my network setup. With a patch panel, I replaced all connections with Cat 6 connectors since they work backward. Yet, I’ve only managed a connection with one cable that already had a keystone installed. It looks like those keystones aren’t functioning properly on all ends. I’m using Cat 6 keystones for Cat 5e wires because they’re backward compatible, as explained. I’ve re-patched some connectors and tried applying more force to the keystones, but still no success. I’m unsure whether the issue lies with the keystones or something else. Let me know what to do next.

I could also suggest a different brand of keystones. What should you consider getting next? Here’s how the keystone appears—did you check if it was driven in properly? Your Ethernet pin tester didn’t pick up any signal, so you might want to verify the connection or try another tool.

It seems you're experiencing an issue with the wiring. Referring to the image and its location suggests adjusting it accordingly. The color codes provided indicate specific settings.

It's okay if it looks the same on both sides

I’m unsure which ends are correct since none are labeled. I believe I modified the wiring standard on the side (see photos). Your sister should replace any connector at the patch panel that seems odd. Even if I wired it incorrectly, a cable tester would still detect at least a few pins. There’s nothing obvious—just the cable below works, but I won’t have the other one until I get home.

Check your available cable length and consider using a longer one or a different connector type if needed.

You're unsure about next steps—consider trying the new keystones first.

The camera angle could be the issue, but 2,7,4 and possibly 8 seem to indicate the contacts are pressed into the plastic.

I created a special cable for testing purposes, but I’ll capture the authentic version once I’m back.
