I recently received a 3060 Ti for Christmas and during low settings in Fortnite, I’m experiencing lower FPS (almost half) compared to friends with similar builds. I’ve used DDU and updated the drivers. My RAM is configured in BIOS at 3200, but I’m wondering if this is just a limitation of my 2700X or if there’s another problem.

What is your RAM capacity? It’s a good idea to review CPU and GPU activity along with refresh rates using Afterburner to keep track of performance during gameplay.

You're seeing stable performance with low CPU and GPU usage. The reported temps are within normal ranges, and the usage percentages seem reasonable based on your system specs.

There are several factors contributing to this situation. The 2700x might be limiting performance. Zen+ runs noticeably slower compared to Zen 3 and even Zen 2, which helps explain the lower FPS when you contrast it with a setup using a 5600x and a 3060ti. It could also be that your friends are playing at the same resolution and settings as you, but one of you has a different configuration—such as switching between dx11 and dx12, or adjusting hardware settings. This difference can significantly impact results. Monitoring tools like MSI Afterburner or hwinfo can help identify temperature issues and pinpoint the exact bottleneck in your system.

It looks like the processor is likely the limiting factor, since the GPU isn't performing at its full potential.

I'll review the afterburner later; right now we stick to the lowest options. Mostly 1440p, though switching to 1080p shows almost no change, which makes me think it might be a limitation.

I thought I’d also be working on game development and photo editing, so I decided to upgrade my CPU. Just to check, was there another reason behind this?

Typically 40-50% overall indicates a single threaded bottleneck, which is common with high-end models like the 2700x. You might want to check the CPU usage graph in Task Manager using logical processors to confirm if one thread is at full capacity. Also verify that your RAM consists of two 8GB sticks rather than just one 16GB stick.

Sure, it's confirmed with two sticks and dual channel functionality working.

Based on the most recent BIOS updates, you can obtain chipset drivers straight from AMD's official website.
