All the sources I’ve found confirm that the Seagate Barracuda 4TB is a 3.5'' drive—roughly four inches wide and six inches long. That explains why I can still read the two SSDs with an adapter, despite their small size.
With a brand new motherboard, tested power supply, and just a 2.5-inch HDD, it failed completely just 24 hours ago.
I hope the problem lies in the fact that a 2.5-inch cable isn’t delivering enough power, which is why it appears briefly in File Explorer before vanishing and showing up as unknown in the disk manager—clearly it’s not spinning properly.

this is clearly not accurate.
any drive can fail unexpectedly at any moment.
you'll encounter countless cases where brand new drives stop working right away.
that's why backup procedures are essential;
store important files on a secondary drive, and then duplicate that backup to a third one.

That's accurate, I've already backed up my two SSDs, which is frustrating since the problem happened just before I was about to back up the HDD. It seems you're wondering if it's possible to spin up a 3.5" 4TB internal HDD using a 2.5 SATA to USB cable—this would explain why your HDD isn't working but your SSDs are readable on external PCs.

I think an HDD requires an additional power cable in addition to the USB adapter. All the external cases I've seen with HDDs consistently include a power port alongside their USB connection.
