Hey guys, so I just replaced the motherboard on my NZXT prebuilt PC (related to a prior issue I was having with my PC which ended up being a SSD with a corrupted Windows user folder but otherwise still accessible and with the personal files all still fine), I just got a new SSD along with that new motherboard after moving those personal files over, it worked fine for a few days, I always shut it down properly through windows, but as of today now when I turn it on, even with no peripherals connected, it boots up, the fan spins, lights come on, then the CPU debug light flashes for a second right before it COMPLETELY shuts off.
I've tried booting it up with only one ram stick and in different slots, same issue. I've never had any PSU issues with this PC before.
Do you have any ideas? All of my hard drives were fine, but now it doesnt even get to the splash screen. The monitor slightly lights up like it's getting power, but then, blam, it instantly shuts off.
Could something be seated improperly? When I got that new motherboard, I had a repair guy basically rebuild this PC, but again, it worked fine for almost an entire week. It was working completely fine even just last night!
I do have new ram sticks coming in tomorrow but I'm not sure if this is a RAM issue.
The PC is a NZXT creator PC from 2022. z490 motherboard, intel i9, 64 gb ram distributed over 4 sticks, 3090 ti graphics card.
What power supply unit is used?
What type of CPU model is present?
Does the system include an integrated graphics card?
Can the discrete GPU be removed from the PC and replaced with the integrated one (if the CPU has an integrated graphics)?
Intel CPUs with "F" in the model name do not have an integrated graphics unit.
Maybe things have shifted in ways you hadn't noticed before.
CPU model is i9-10900K with NZXT Kraken x63 cooler.
GPU is RTX 3090, equipped with TFORCE delta rgb 16gb each across four modules.
Storage includes a 1 WD SN750 1TB SSD, Seagate Baracuda 4TB drive, and a MSI z490 gaming edge motherboard with Wi-Fi.
Powered by Seasonic FOCUS GM 850W Gold power supply.
Operating system is Windows 10.
Small update: my repair person mentioned the CPU light flashing just before shutdown is normal, suggesting it might be related to RAM.
He checked the power supply unit on this PC and confirmed it was functioning properly.
He also provided me with hard drive adapters to read my HDD and SSD, which I plan to use with a spare PC soon, to verify their condition and back them up to an external drive.
I’ll post an update about my hard drives later.
if these are two distinct 2x module kits, test each packaged kit individually in DIMMs A_2 and B_2.
if that doesn't work, try installing each module one by one in each DIMM slot.
Hey there,
Removing all drives except the boot drive still gives the same result? After installing the new SSD and Mobo, did you perform a clean Windows installation or simply copied the old drive with the operating system? Then just booted up.
good and bad news : (
Both SSDs are fine, but my secondary drive, my HDD " D : "drive doesn't read. Tried opening it in disk management and it said "Disk 1 unknown" And didn't even show storage capacity, when trying to read it through a SATA cable on an external PC (same pc I'm using to read my two SSDs from that PC)
My repair guy said that this might be a security thing and it might only be able to be read through a motherboard on my PC maybe, but I fear the worse, I had absolutely no issues with that only 2 year old HDD and it was working just fine last night.
I highly doubt anything on my PC could have toasted it since it was a secondary drive, the SSDs that the PC boots to, the ones with windows on em, were absolutely fine.
So now I'm waiting on new ram to try to fix up my old PC and read the HDD through it
Do we know though if this "security" thing is a real thing? The 2.5 SATA slot fits.. in theory it should work, is there any reason I should expect only to be able to read it through a motherboard? I cant even hear the HDD start spinning up when I plug it in.
