The amount of RAM mentioned seems unusual. It suggests mixed speeds or channel settings. Your resolution isn’t listed, which affects performance. Memory speed and latency help maintain smooth frames, especially when the CPU is busy. It’s likely your system has some processing overhead. I’d recommend upgrading to faster RAM if possible, or guide you through overclocking if you prefer staying with what you have. To check other factors, let me know your display settings and anti-aliasing technique.

My setting is 1080p and BF1's antialiasing uses TAA. My storage comes from my previous machine. For instance, this computer was originally a ready-made build, but I still use some components from that original version while also installing many new parts. The only remaining pieces are the hard drive and RAM.

I placed it on dx12 and observed fewer drops, actually.

I recommend using a tool such as MSI Afterburner with OSD enabled for GPU, CPU, VRAM and RAM metrics. This will show you if any component is underperforming. If so, my hypothesis about memory issues could be valid. DX12 reduces CPU load, which explains its better performance in that area. Most users overlook minimum frame rates, but they’re crucial to track. I’ve noticed up to 20% gains in games like Fallout 4 when switching from DDR4 2133 to 2800, and from DDR3 1600 to 2133. Be sure to apply Afterburner and observe changes during performance drops. If GPU utilization stays low, something else might be limiting it. Verify you have sufficient memory and that the CPU isn’t constantly at full capacity causing instability. If BF1 employs a texture streaming method, upgrading to an SSD would be beneficial—consider this alongside RAM upgrades. It may actually surpass RAM improvements since RAM can be overclocked without extra cost. Let me know your findings from using Afterburner OSD monitoring.

Sure, I'll wait a few minutes. I'll get back to you then.

On the screen it doesn't appear to function properly on BF1, even after using it before. I'm not sure if BF4 was an issue, but I'm trying to figure it out.

Install the driver again and reinstall the device. This should fix the issue. Get a solid SSD for your gaming PC.

I recently tried something not too long ago and haven’t got the budget for an SSD just yet, though most people say it’s worth it. I’m curious about how much it actually improves performance—some say it’s barely noticeable while others claim major gains.

It varies by game. Some titles cut loading times by half or more. In general, performance improves significantly with better data handling, which you'll notice.
