Don't stress, the standard Assetto Corsa version runs smoothly. Your 8350 will perform well. Optimizing for Arma is a hassle, and even with my setup it's only using 2-3 cores.
In the PC racing arcade scene, Autosport doesn't quite match Grid 2 in quality. It feels surprisingly simple—raising the ad difficulty on Grid 2 could make a real challenge, despite the unrealistic physics and overly aggressive drivers. Although it bothers some, I found it more fun than the autostart mode. Still, Autosport has a stronger campaign side and, in terms of tracks and cars, it's pretty consistent. The new first-person view is a bit blurry, but I love it, especially since I usually play with a racing wheel and third-person doesn't suit my style. There should be better racing games out there, I agree. But I think every PC player should have at least one grid game in their collection. Maybe adjusting the AI difficulty in Autosport would help.
Besides Assetto Corsa I, there aren't many solid racing titles available for PC that don’t require a subscription or trial. I’m currently playing Shift 2, but it has that annoying floating boat mechanic and slow response, plus the AI opponents often hit you unexpectedly.
You know Arma optimization is terrible; it wants single-core performance and only uses up to three cores. If you're okay with graphics, go for Game Stock Car Extreme.
I didn't mention that Grid was a paid game. I stated there were no other good racing titles for PC that weren't subscription or trial-based. Grid Autosport didn't get my approval. I already have the original Grid version.
Autosport offers a decent racing experience, more of an arcade feel than pure simulation. It's not the top in its category but stands out for that genre on PC. The focus isn't just on speed but on the thrill of arcade-style driving. They have a Grid 2 demo available on Steam, highlighting the difference in handling—some drivers prefer drifting or understeering while others enjoy oversteer.
Project Cars is coming out in 2 months that's what I would recommend:
