Hi there, I'm just assembling a basic PC from salvaged parts for someone. You have an old MSI 970 Gaming, which is still functional but might need some adjustments. It has both 8 and 6 pin power connectors, and I initially thought it was a simple choice, but upon closer inspection, it actually requires both types. The new PSU I found only supports 6+2 connectors, which isn't ideal. Since it's an older model but still reliable, I'm considering upgrading to a newer PSU that matches the 6 pin setup. I have spare Molex and SATA cables, and according to the original manual, the 970 Gaming came with an adapter for Molex to 6 pin. I might look into that option and see what others recommend. I'm not a big fan of Molex adapters, but maybe a SATA version could work. I'll go with what experts suggest and see if it fits. Cheers, Phil.
It seems the 970 model is outdated for handling per-input details.
I recently used GPU-Z on my testing setup, which has a 970 installed, to obtain that data.
Would this work? It seems confusing why there are two options.
