The GPU isn't crucial as long as it falls within the mid to high range and is no more than two to three generations old. Users have shared successful gameplay with models like the 660s and 580s. However, there are currently no optimizations available. Regardless of the powerful graphics card you choose, it won't be used to its maximum capacity. The same applies to CPUs. I've observed performance around 30 frames per second on a 32-thread Xeon with dual Titan X cards. When one thread runs at about 100% utilization while others idle, and GPUs operate near 20% peak usage, it's essentially an outdated system. Once the game is properly optimized, a modern setup like a 290x or 780 should provide a smooth experience at 1440p. The new Polaris and Pascal chips from AMD and Intel will handle it effortlessly.

Creating a game for hardware that hasn’t been built yet can be quite challenging. The issue lies in Star Citizen being in the alpha phase, which means it’s still evolving. Optimization usually comes later, so developers often focus on other aspects first.

Check if it's an AMD-optimized release and aim for 390 or higher performance.

We've been talking about this, but it's still not fully optimized. When it is, it will add support for the Mantle API, which is different from improvements for AMD systems. Besides sponsored and demo titles, no developer would intentionally hurt over half their players in that way.

AMD-enhanced titles usually don't overload Nvidia hardware, yet Gameworks appears to behave differently... V_V
